“And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common.” Acts 2:44.

imageI have a new gem of a friend, Ruby. We met playing bridge at church, so right away we had that game in common. The fact that we both attended the same church service showed that we have common beliefs. We love hiking, girl-talk, concerts, and many of the same foods.

Today, while hiking in Sedona, I learned that Ruby and I are indeed very differant from one another. I mentioned that I’d like to ride a motorcycle. She gave me that “you are crazy” look. Ruby said she rode a mule down the Grand Canyon, and I couldn’t believe anyone would muster up the courage to do that! She and I are on different sides of the fence when it comes to politics–so we don’t discuss it.

When we can be in harmony with God and the teachings of Jesus, it makes it easier to accept the different stuff–like she likes vanilla ice cream, and I like chocolate.

Lord, help us find friends based on what is really important–our belief in you and your love for us. Amen.
