It just Grand …

“Make the road straight and smooth, a highway fit for our God.” Isaiah 40:3

Grand Avenue, also known as Route 60

Grand Avenue, also known as Route 60

Grand Avenue is a diagonal four-lane road that runs from the town of Wickenburg to the center of Phoenix. There are miles without stoplights, making it a good commuter route. But the tremendous amount of vehicles on the road makes for constant repair of the surface. When the orange cones and barricades come up, drivers become annoyed.

In the Isaiah message for today, the prophet is tells the people to get fit for the days to come–the arrival of the Messiah! During Advent, we prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus—the renewal of the message that God sent his son to pave the way for all his children to find eternal life.

During Advent, when you come up against road construction, think about this message from Isaiah, and how our Eternal Grand Avenue will be paved in gold.

Dear God, even when our daily paths are rugged, give us enough faith to make them smooth. Amen.
