A Remote World …

“He’s [God] not remote; he’s near.” Acts 17:27

imagePet peeve #46: I hate it when I’m watching TV and the person with the remote suddenly decides to channel surf …or turn the TV off!

We live in a world where we remotely switch from one thing to another without giving it much thought. I can be busily finishing up a retreat talk and the next minute searching for a picture for a blog posting. My husband can be working on his robot creation one minute and the next minute be erradicating a computer virus from a friend’s computer.

I wonder if we treat God the same way… switching from one thought to another or turning him off and on. Do we channel surf looking for something better or more exciting in our lives? Do we turn God off when we don’t get our way or turn him just when we need something?

Dear God, forgive me for being so remote in my faith journey. Amen.
