And, now the rest of the story …
“A man named Apollos…preached with power in the meeting place. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and told him the rest of the story.” Acts 18:25,26
I remember as a kid having a radio in the kitchen, mainly used for farm news reports, the evening news, and high school basketball games (very popular in Iowa) during the state tournaments. However, one voice from the radio I carried with me through adulthood, was that of Paul Harvey, a master story teller for a Chicago radio station. About midway through his career, he began a segment called “The Rest of the Story.” He’d create a story of less than five minutes in length and cleverly break away for a commercial just at the climax of the story. Then he’d return on air for “the rest of the story.”
In Acts, chapter 18, we learn about Appollo, who was instructed “in the way of The Lord; and being fervent in spirit.” (vs. 24) He spoke boldly in the synagogue, but he could only take his story as far as the baptism of John. So Priscilla and Aquila filled him in on the rest of the story, which is the beginning of our new story in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
Lord, let us share the rest of the story about Jesus and his love for all. Amen.
