“In one way or another, God makes sure that we all experience what it means to be outside so that he can personally open the door and welcome us back in.” Romans 11:32
I remember sitting on the edge of the hard bench, hanging my head low, but keeping my eyes on the gym floor where my teammates were struggling to win a basketball game. Even being exhausted and soaked in my own perspiration, I wanted to get back into the game. But, I had been given four chances to stop my aggressive playing, and it was that fifth foul, perhaps an elbow in someone’s face, that benched me.
We live a real life monopoly game. We roll the dice, move our icon forward, and sometimes land on a good spot; other times we owe someone money or are sent to jail with the warning: “Do not pass go; do not collect $200.” Yet, there is another component in the “Real Life Monopoly” game. The deck is stacked with “get out of jail free” cards. They are grace cards and forgiveness cards, which makes it possible for all believers to be winners.
Dear God, Thank you for the rule book and a set of free passes to avoid being benched forever. Amen.
