Can you hear the calling?

“He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.” Ephesians 2:10

Linda at workDid you get your call? The one from God requesting you to enter into ministry of some type? Ministers are frequently asked when they knew God had called them to be pastors. Some can pinpoint the very moment. I’m guessing many grew into their calling.

I took my first job in the church office as a young mother and saw it as a way to get out of the house and around big people for four hours a week. After getting acquainted with the work, and spending quiet hours in the church, I felt called to be there to help prepare for worship. Then, we moved–several times. With each new home, I found work in a church office or other faith-based organizations, God planted within my heart a new excitement to serve.

The church, unlike a business, is the people. Without the hearts and hands of the members, the church would cease to exist.

Dear God, help us open our ears to hear you call us into ministry. Amen.
