“I’ll bring my people back …Watch them come! They’ll come weeping for joy as I take their hands and lead them…” Jeremiah 31:8 (The Message Bible)
The prophet, Jeremiah, had the privilege of passing on good news from God to the people of Israel: “I’ve never quit loving you and never will…so now I’ll start over with you and build you up again.”
In the New Testament, God reaffirmed his love for his people in John 3:16-17: “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. “I’ll bring my people back.”
Raising children, or caring for someone’s kids, is similar to the way God cares for us. We give…sometimes until it hurts. We help them prepare for life…and we receive them home when they need a roof over their head and a safe place to land. Then, when they are ready to get out on their own, we weep for joy!
Dear Lord, thank you for taking my hand and leading me out of the valleys in my life. Amen.
