Crazy fear …

“Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable.” 2 Corinthians 13:11

imageToday is Friday the 13th. Some people fear getting out of bed, wondering, What terrible things is going to happen to me today?” Good things have happened to me on the 13th–such as giving birth to my first child (and it was a Friday!) and having my last child during our 13th year of marriage.

Dreading Friday the 13th or the number 13 is similar to the mentality of fearing a black cat crossing your path. Why would anyone let Friday the 13th cause them to live less cheerfully, with dampened spirits, and out of harmony with God because of fear.

Dear Lord, give us strength to shed fear that has no purpose in our days. Amen.
