Don’t Fritter your life away …

“A life frittered away disgusts God; he loves those who run straight for the finish line.” Proverbs 15:9

goalsRun, watch Linda run … well attempt to run, you might say. After not running for a decade, I began to run a few laps in between walking. My immediate goal is to run a mile and perhaps some day a 5K. I’ve always liked to run, but somehow I thought when you turned 70, you have no business running. But at the indoor track at the senior recreation center, I see “old women” running, so I decided to give it a try. I don’t want to box myself into the category of being too old to do anything.

Jogging isn’t the issue in Proverbs 15.  We are told when we set a goal, we should pursue it instead of dropping out of the race halfway through. I have found when I share my goals with God and others, they are easier to keep.

For the past four years, I’ve published a devotional book from Daily Meditation Moment posts. My goal is to have the book published by December for those who want a hard copy. This year I lagged behind and had to double up on writing meditations in November. Sometimes I felt like giving up, but I knew people were counting on receiving their book. With God’s help, I made it to the finish line with a copy of  “Souly-4-You” in my hand.

Lord, help us live a full life by finishing what we begin to glorifying you. Amen.
