“They [the scholars from the East] could hardly contain themselves: They were in the right place!” Matthew 2:10 (The Message Bible)
As I planned my post-Christmas trip to New Jersey, I routed myself through New York City. For years, I have wanted to see the decorated windows at Macy’s, and I knew this would be my best opportunity, but a challenge find my way from the airport to Manhattan by myself. All along the way I received help from other travelers, and the moment I stepped off the bus at Macy’s I began to smile—people who saw me must have wondered, What’s up with this woman?
The windows were amazing, not the traditional Christmas scenes one might expect to see from “The Night Before Christmas” book, but clever and beautiful. I wondered around the avenues and streets closest to Macy’s and found my way to Penn Station for the trip by train to Dover where my daughter picked me up. The smile began again as I saw my little grandsons.
It’s no wonder the scholars from the East, who traveled until they found the “Newborn King” could not contain themselves: They were in the right place!
Dear Lord, may we take advantage of epiphany moments in our lives. Amen.
