Eye in the Sky — Daily Meditation Moment

“The Four Animals were winged, each with six wings. They were all eyes, seeing around and within.” Revelations 4: 8 (The Message Bible)

The book of Revelations was written by John of Patmos, who had a vision of heaven and its inhabitants. The third of the four animals John saw had a human face with many eyes that could see all direction at any time. This concept would probably make for a highly sought after nanny. My daughter works at home and has one-and-three-year old sons. This “pet” could keep an eye on the boys at all times to keep them out of trouble.

Children learn quickly that when they aren’t being watched, they can try to get by with tricks they wouldn’t attempt when being watched. This makes me wonder if I have this child-like mentality about my relationship with God. If I turn my back to him, he can’t see what I am doing. As God is everywhere, and I know that he sees all that I do, perhaps if I adopt a vision of God with eyes all over his spirit body, I might get into less trouble.

Dear Lord, open my eyes to see that you are looking at me all the time. Amen.
