Felxing the “Muscle” — Daily Meditation Moment

May 18

“The powers of earth are God’s—he soars over all.” Psalm 47:9

A friend gave me a devotional book titled “Each Day a New Beginning.” The unnamed author writes from her experience as part of a 12-step program for an addiction. I’m not part of such a group, and I thank God that I never ventured into the world of street drugs, because with my addictive personality, I probably would have excelled as an addict.

The author compares the strength needed in recovery to that of a muscle, which needs to be flexed to stay strong. Faith in a higher power (which she named as God) needs a regular workout of prayer and meditation to stay strong for any of the challenges of daily life.

The more we flex our “muscles,” the more we feel the power of God soars in our lives—a good habit, and a heavenly addiction!

Dear God, please soar with me today through all the challenges I face. Amen.
