[God said] “I will gather others also, gather them in with those already gathered.” Isaiah 56:8
I plot and plan to get my three children together under one roof, at least once a year and preferably in March. My daughter Susan and her husband live in Indiana. She’s a doctorate student and Dan is a special education teacher, each with a different week for spring break.
To make things more complicated, my grandchildren’s school in New Jersey schedules their spring break to coincide with Easter, which rarely matches either Susan’s or Dan’s break. Fortunately, my son Mike and his teenage daughter live in the valley close to us.
There were no plans for a reunion this year, but because of an old Jeep Cherokee my husband purchased back from our daughter in Indiana, Susan helped us drive both the Toyota and the Jeep back to Arizona. It just happened that Karen had schedule a two-week visit with her boys and arrived a few days after the caravan made it home. For two evenings, I had my three children and three grandchildren just where I wanted them.
Dear God, I’m feeling blessed, just as you must feel when you can gather as many of your children as possible under your wide arms. Amen.
