“Write these commandments [The Ten Commandments] … on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children.” Deuteronomy 6:6 (The Message Bible)
Yesterday at church, I listened to four young people give their confirmation testimonials. One girl confidently shared her story and confessed that she had more doubts than truths about religion, but she loved God and would keep working toward understanding. She glowed in the glory of God, and I admired her young maturity in faith. After the service I gave her a hug and told her that she seemed to have learned in fourteen years what it has taken me sixty-five years.
As God commanded, I suspect her parents got inside of her and implanted the love of God and the joy of learning.
Dear Lord, may we be child-like in our faith journey—learning and growing every day for the rest of our lives. Amen.
