“Mary Magdalene went, telling the news to the disciples: ‘I saw the Master!’ And she told them everything he said to her.” John 2:18 (The Message Bible)
Women didn’t hold roles of importance in the bible. But it was Mary Magdalene who became the messenger for Jesus when she found him outside of the grave. “Go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I ascend to my Father and your Father, my God and your God.'”
Today, there are many women evangelists and speakers sharing the good news of Jesus and the love of God. Recently, I had the pleasure to meet one of them, Liz Curtis Higgs, who is an author of many fiction and non-fiction books. After listening to her for four evening sessions at a conference, I left wanting to be just like her—a great speaker. One day on campus, I approached her to tell her how much I enjoyed her messages, and I said, “When I grow up, I want to be just like you.” Without hesitating, she said, “The position is open.”
The position is open to all of us to go and tell others about Jesus—and the time to begin is right now!
Dear Jesus, help us to see opportunities to run to others to proclaim the good news that you are alive and well. Amen.
