God says, “Ask.”

God said, “What can I give you? Ask.” 1 King 3:5

askGod spoke to Solomon in a dream and told him to ask for anything he wanted. Solomon responded by asking for wisdom. Impressed with the young king’s maturity, he gave him wisdom, but also threw in wealth, glory, and a long life.

I go through my day asking God for various things—usually for good health for my family and friends, that they find peace in their day, etc. Rarely do I ask for anything for myself beyond “Lord, help me understand….” I pray daily for God to pour huge amount of wisdom on those who lead our country. I can’t imagine what a mess our country would be in if I didn’t pray!

Today, I will spend time thinking about what to ask God. Before I get into my list of requests, perhaps I’ll ask God for wisdom to know what I really need.

Dear Lord of wisdom, please bless me today with a dose of wisdom. Amen.
