“Philip said to Nathanael: ‘We’ve found the One Moses wrote of in the Law, the One preached by the prophets. It’s Jesus, Joseph’s son, the one from Nazareth!’ ‘Nathanael said, ‘Nazareth? You’ve got to be kidding.’” John 1: 45,46 (The Message Bible)
In other translations of the bible, verse 46 is written: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Today if someone is trying something new, we might ask the same question, “Linda from Sun City—can anything good come out of her writing and speaking?”
During the Christmas season, I sent postcards to over 100 churches—mostly to pastors that I know personally or to those from churches in Sun City—advertising my books as a gift for their church secretaries. The results were dismal—not one sale. I began to ask myself the same question. “Can anything good come out of Sun City?”
The disciples learned that something good did come out of Nazareth—the Savior. In my case, something good has come out of Sun City, too. I’ve learned to write and speak, and there are people who want to read and listen to what I say..
Dear Lord, let me patiently work the process of becoming your disciple through my ministry to church office staff. Amen.
