A Meditation Moment – June 26, 2011
“Accepting someone’s help is as good as giving someone help.” Matthew 10:42 (The Message)
I can be very stubborn when it comes to seeking help. Recently, I purchased a three-shelf bookcase that I brought home in a box with a package of screws, wooden pegs, and a sheet of illustrations. I took on a two-year old child’s attitude of “I can do this by myself,” and spread the materials out in front of the television, where my husband, “Tool-man Glen” was watching a golf match.
I read the directions and found the needed tools and then proceeded to spend the next half hour trying to get the frame together. After three boards were attached, Glen said, “You have one board on backwards.” Sure enough. I rolled my eyes in his direction and gave him the “HELP” look, and he came to my rescue.
Dear Lord, life is like putting together that book shelf. When I try to resolve a situation by myself, I should seek your advice first. Amen.
