I’m convinced …

“I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. Romans 8:38,39

When I’m weak in spirit, I’m the one who releases my hand from the hand of God. I’m the one who forgets to pray, to seek God’s advice, and to open myself to his loving grace. Unfortunately, society tries to pull people away from God. I think of a few movies I’ve gone to and came out appalled at what I had seen and heard, and yet, I didn’t get up and leave because someone with me wanted to stay.

It disappoints me when I hear people ranting about how God has been locked out of the classroom in our schools without offering the advice that God can’t be locked out of any place. God hears our prayers through closed doors. Unless someone chooses to put the key to their faith into their heart and lock it off, God will be there waiting. I must admit, as a kid, I do not remember a teacher or student offer a prayer out loud. I would guess some of the teachers were silently praying!

We need to teach children they can talk to God anywhere, anytime, but in some cases, it must be done in silence out of respect for those who do not wish to participate.

Help us, Lord, to set aside fear of practicing our faith. Amen.
