Jesus wept…

“Jesus wept.” John 11:35

imageIf you only memorize one verse in the Bible, remember this one. Jesus wept. It tells much about our loving God who wept enough tears over creation, including man, that he sent his Son, Jesus, to teach others how to love one another. Jesus wept because his friend Lazaruth had died.

It’s interesting that Jesus wept, because he also had the power through God to resurrect him, and he did bring him back to life.

Today, I’m saddened by a little lady in our church, a few days shy of her 100th birthday, is dying. A week ago she fell in her apartment and broke a leg and spent four horrendous nights on the floor before someone found her. The trauma of the pain and dehydration took a toll on her fragile body. We all asked, “How could this happen to someone we love?” ¬†And, I believe, Jesus wept over her, too.

Lord, let our tears flow freely when we experience loss of all kinds. Amen.
