“The glory of God–let it last forever! Let God enjoy his creation.” Psalm 104:31
We live about twenty minutes from Lake Pleasant, a man-made lake which provides water to the Valley. I call it a “bald lake” because there are no trees surrounding it, such as the lakes in Minnesota that I went to as a child. The water is pristine and looks so blue contrasted with the mountains in the background. It’s a popular place for families to enjoy getting away from the city.
On my hikes around Lake Pleasant I carry a plastic grocery bag and gather trash left behind by someone who doesn’t care about God’s creation. I find a single flip-flop, beer and soda cans, a discarded towel or tee-shirt, and wrappers of all kinds.
If the folks who discard their trash on the beach and in the hillsides can’t glorify God by carrying it out with them, I guess I can continue to glorify God by leaning over and picking it up.
Dear God, help us see your creation as a way to thank you for our blessings. Amen.
