Lighting up…

“Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand–shine!” Matthew 5:15

imageJesus said we are on earth to be light–bringing out “God-colors” in the world. Today, I feel as if my batteries need to be recharged, as my inner light is struggling to find it’s way from behind a cloud.

I hate confrontation and avoid it at all costs–especially if it affects a friendship. Recently, a friend wanted to “talk.” She shared how she felt our friendship wasn’t going anywhere, and I had let her down in the area of communication. I pondered this a moment, and then I said, “You are right. I have let you down. I have not been a good friend.”

In reality, I believe our friendship never surpassed the stage of just being fond acquaintances. We enjoy seeing each other every few weeks (or months), but personal circumstances, and the lack of drive from either of us keep us from taking our relationship to the next level: close friends who bring out “God-colors” in each other. And, perhaps God wants us to just be good acquaintances.

Dear Father, beam your light on my soul! Amen.
