One Flesh — Daily Meditation Moment

“Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh.” ¬†Genesis 2:24 (The Message Bible)

My husband stepped away from his father and mother forty-seven years ago to receive me at the altar to become “one flesh.” There have been many, many times during our forty-seven-year marriage that I considered about giving him back to his mother for more training. (His father died forty-five years ago.)
God provided Glen and me with lasticity (made-up word) that helped us reconnect when  times got tough. And, times did get tough during year thirty-nine when we experienced separation and extreme marriage therapy.
Should I ever face singlehood, It would be difficult to consider a new rest-of-life partner, because I’ve been blessed to have a husband whose disposition and personality type is opposite from mine and a man who knows how to love and adore his wife. He keeps me balanced–one flesh. Surely, there is not another man like Glen in this whole world.
Dear Lord, I pray that all men and women seeking a life-time partner will seek wisdom from you before they tie the knot. Amen.
