Please remove the blinders …

“The people of Israel kept right on doing evil in God’s sight.” Judges 4:1

Please pray for Kayla.

Please pray for Kayla.

After a week of incomprehensible news from Syria, we know there continues to be groups of people who are unafraid to show their evil side to God. Perhaps the god of the Islamic State militants has blinders to chopping off the heads of journalist, setting a pilot in a cage on fire, and creating chaos among people who just want to live in peace.

An Arizona native is the latest alleged death in Syria. The Islamic State wants the world to believe twenty six-year old Kayla Mueller died from an airstrike by the Jordan military. We, as a country, friends, and family of Kayla, pray this story to be false and an act of mental cruelty.

In 2013, Kayla made a statement to her hometown newspaper: “For as long as I live, I will not let this suffering be normal,” she said. “It’s important to stop and realize what we have, why we have it and how privileged we are. And from that place, start caring and get a lot done.”

Kayla put her life in danger because she believes it is the right thing to do. Radical religious military groups in Syria and other places in the world could learn from this brave young woman what it means to serve the true God.

Dear Lord, surround your loving arms around everyone imprisoned for whatever reason. Amen.
