You can not outrun God…

“Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life.” Psalm 23:6

I’m not a runner…never was and never will be. Except–I run from life situations. You might find that interesting, as people who know me assume I am a pillar of strength. I am, but only in areas where I feel most comfortable, such as when I played basketball in high school. I knew my game and was comfortable with my team. As a public speaker, I find myself at home in front of hundreds of people, because I know my topic inside and out.

Ten years ago I ran from my marriage. Glen and I spent a year in therapy to try to rekindle the love we knew we had for one another. The year was tough–living apart, peeling the onion down to the core, crying along the way. The whole painful year could have been avoided had I decided not to run. However, neither Glen nor I had the tools in our marriage tool kit to figure out how to survive under the same roof.

God–in his beauty and love–chased after me every day during that year, sprinkling me with grace, wisdom, and forgiveness.

Thank you, Lord, for not giving up the race to save me from my own distructive ways. Amen.
