“The women, deep in wonder and full of joy, lost no time in leaving the tomb. They ran to tell the disciples.” Matthew 28:8
When was the last time you sprinted to tell someone about your church, your God? I can honestly say I’m not very good at sharing the good news about a great place to worship God. When we moved to an acreage near Cortland, Nebraska, before I got the boxes unpacked, a neighbor from a mile up the road stopped by our home to introduce herself.
What I remember most about her visit was that she invited our family to go to church with them the next Sunday. It was our first experience worshipping in a small country church, which soon became our church home. Better yet, all of the farm neighbors went to the same church and soon became friends.
As in the resurrection story, an angel told the women, “Now, get on your way quickly and tell his disciples.” Perhaps, we need angels surrounding us to encourage us to not only knock on a new neighbor’s door, but to do it quickly.
Dear God, today we said, “Christ is risen. He is risen indeed!” I thank you for this gift of a new life for all who believe. Amen.
