Silent night …

“It’s exactly what he promised, beginning with Abraham and right up to now.” Luke 1:55

image“It” is the Christ Child—planned and promised from the time of creation. The many references to the Messiah found in scripture have come to fruition. The Baby is born, and a new life in the form of a child brings new life to all who believe.

It will take over thirty years for this Child to proceed to the cross, but for the church, we begin our celebration tonight and have only a few weeks until we begin Lent … the Passion … Death … Resurrection.

Let’s savor this evening—a gift from God. Light a candle in the dark … and sing:

Silent night, Holy night!
Son of God, love’s pure light.
Radiant beams from your holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at your birth,
Jesus, Lord, at your birth.

Dear God, help us seek see a closer relationship through the Christ Child. Amen.
