Sinning the moment we awaken . . .

“If we claim that we experience a shared life with him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we’re obviously lying through our teeth—we’re not living what we claim.” 1 John 1:6-7

Grandma SayingAnother lesson about sin and forgiveness! Today we are hammered again with the fact we say we are walking in the light of God, but we continue to stumble around in the dark places of our lives. I love the saying, “God I haven’t sinned today…but soon I’ll be getting out of bed.

One of my weaknesses is that I talk too much. I get carried away in conversation, and before I realize it, I have been gossiping, complaining, or trying to explain my way out of what I just said.

I always say, “People’s best qualities are often their weakest.” My morning prayers should begin, “Dear Lord, help me talk less and help me connect my mind, heart, and soul to my lips and tongue.”

Dear Lord, I know I am powerless to sin and need your help to learn from my mistakes. Amen.
