Stinkin’ thinkin’ …

“Don’t take yourself too seriously—take God seriously.” Micah 6:8

A quote from Marc and Angel Hack Life Facebook blog: “The problem is not the problem. The problem in the incredible amount of over thinking you’re doing with the problem. Let it go and be free.”

Guilty on this fact: I like to take an issue and chew on it until it has lost its flavor—like a piece on chewing gum. However, chewing gum loses its flavor quickly, so you pop another one in your mouth and repeat the process–same thing with thinking.

Some people call the process of over thinking stinkin’ thinkin’ because it rarely helps solve a situation. Letting go is the hard part, especially if you are trying to justify or defend what you are harboring in your mind, heart, and soul.

I wish I had a quarter for every time I’ve thought about what to do with my home in Sun City—rent it, sell it, or divide it into two parts like a timeshare lock off. I have gotten nowhere with this cycle of thinking. Perhaps, it is too soon to be making a decision. I may think differently in another year, so I’ve agreed to rent it out again next winter. Next spring I will revisit the sell, no sell, or rent decision.

In the meanwhile, I’ll try to practice what I preach and give it over to God.

Lord, please take away my stinkin’ thinkin’ and open my mind to productive thoughts. Amen.
