“Jesus said, ‘I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.’” John 8:12-19 (The Message Bible)
One of the fun things about being around little children is watching them play—especially after Christmas when they have new toys. Our toymakers come up with something neat every year. My eighteen-month-old grandson got a flashlight from Uncle Mike shaped like Thomas the Train. There’s an easy blue lever to push on the handle and then the light comes on, along with a couple of train whistle sounds, and Thomas talks. Last night Mason must have bumped up against it in his crib, and the light came on and Thomas said, “I will light the way.” What a message for a child in the dark.
Some day Mason will know that God is the real Thomas the Train. He will only need to push the lever of prayer and praise and God will light his way. No batteries needed.
Dear Lord, thank you for being the light for our path during the night and day. Amen.
