Tis a gift to have creativity …

“Send out your Spirit and they spring into life.” Psalm 104:30

Office stuff 2Years ago, I had my first opportunity to do some public speaking. A group of women invited me to speak at their tea. I chose the theme “God’s Gift of Creativi-Tea” and shared ways in which everyone is creative.

Some of our gifts aren’t as obvious as an artist, dancer, actor, or writer. It may be creative cooking or decorating. Some women are creative by dressing up a simple black dress with scarves and jewelry or in how they put on their makeup. I left the tea unsatisfied with my presentation–it lacked creativity! My note cards were awkward, and I felt disconnected from the women.

Later that same week, I spoke to group of church administrative assistants. I took a few prompts from my office–a statue of the three monkeys: see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil–a book, journal, and a few other small items that I pulled out to emphasize my message. No note cards, and no feeling of being disconnected.

God gifts everyone with a spirit to spring into life. Give your spirit a chance to meet God’s greatest gift–the Holy Spirit.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of creativity. Amen.
