“We never really know enough until we recognize that god alone knows it all.” 1 Corinthians 8:3 (The Message Bible)
I’m in transition mode at the office. In two more months, I will be giving up my desk to a new office manager. As I read the new job description, I could not help but think about how much I need to tell the new employee during his or her training period. I have started putting together a manual of all the standard stuff I do, but the incidental things can only be learned as they come up—the old “seat of your pants” learning method.
I don’t think that with all my experience working in the church office, I would want to apply for this new position. I might suggest to the personnel committee that they must add one more thing to the lengthy job description: The office manager must be able to walk on water.
Life is one long learning experience, and if you want to make God laugh, tell him that you know it all.
Dear Lord, open my mind and heart to learn something new every day about your love and mercy for everyone. Amen.
