Unlocked …

“The handcuffs fell off his wrists.” Acts 12:7

The handcuffs (more likely chains) fell off Peter’s wrists when an angel commanded him to be free.image

Are your hands tied to whatever you are doing today that is imprisoning you? When was the last time you got out of your comfort zone and tried something new–like trying out for a play, parasailing with a buddy, writing a comment for the editorial page of your newspaper to share something you believe in, or smaller tasks that you put off because you don’t have faith in yourself.

In high school, I tried to look as invisible as possible–“Don’t call on me….” Strangely enough, God took the handcuffs of fear off my wrists, and now I can speak to hundreds of people without my nerves getting the best of me. It didn’t happen overnight, but it was something that when I said yes to a request to speak, I could almost hear the latch unlock my fear of being heard and seen.

Lord, give us a reason to release our fears and move forward in serving you and others. Amen.
