Up, Up, and Away … for a few days

Tomorrow morning I leave for Chicago where I will lead a two-day retreat for the Annual Meeting of the National United Church of Christ Support Staff Network. I have been preparing for this event for months, and now I’m ready to go. My mind and heart is cluttered! Below is the opening litany for the retreat. Pray it with me!

Vacation 2011 128L:        Lord, our hearts are cluttered.

A:        Cleanse my heart, Lord.

L:        Our hearts are heavy and broken from the loads we carry at work and at home.

A:        Cleanse my heart, Lord.

L:        Our heart are sick from worry.

A:        Cleanse my heart, Lord.

L:        Accusations harden our hearts.

A:        Cleanse my heart, Lord.

L:        Our hearts want to leap and play like when we were children.

A:        Cleanse my heart, Lord.

L:        Forgive us, Lord, for failing to trust you with all our hearts.  (Proverbs 3:5)

A:        Cleanse my heart, Lord.

L:        In Psalm 119:125 – David says, “I’m your servant—help me understand what that means, the inner meaning of your instructions…turn my way, look kindly on me…, steady my steps with your Word of promise…rescue me from the grip of bad men and women…smile on me…teach me the right way to live…

 Prayer:

God, enrich us with your words of encouragement, and give us the tools we need to serve you –to unravel the secret of what it means to be a servant through our work in the church, in our homes, and throughout our communities. Let us seek new ways to say thank you and feel your never ending presence! Amen.

May you have a blessed week until I post again!
