“With each of you we were like a father with his child, holding your hand, whispering encouragement, showing you step-by-step how to live well before God ….” 1 Thessalonians 2: 12 (The Message Bible)
I loved holding my own babies, however, I never felt as if I had to hold every baby I saw–until I became a grandmother. Now, I could set up a booth at the mall: “Let me hold your baby while you shop!” But in this day of child abuse, that would not work.
I’ve had the extreme pleasure of being able to be with each of my three grandchildren as they celebrated their first birthday. Besides the Kodak cake-smearing event, this was about the time they all took their first steps. To put my hands out to these little persons and have them walk into my arms was a joy I’ll never forget. Can you imagine how God must feel when we walk into his outstretched arms?
Dear God, thank you for holding my hand as I weave through life. Amen.
