Watching …

[Jesus said] “Stay at your post, watching. You have no idea when the homeowner is returning, whether evening, midnight, cockcrow, or morning.” Mark 13:37

Pope Francis 2I spent hundreds of hours babysitting during junior high and high school. Often the parents would be out after midnight. If I had been up since 7:00 a.m., I’d  put the children to bed and  curl up on the couch a go to sleep. In my favor, I had the ability to wake up the minute I heard a child stirring or the car pull into the driveway.

When Jesus told the disciples to “stay… watch …, he was referring to being careful notto  let false prophets and messiah’s lead us astray as we await the second coming of Jesus.

Today’s false prophets and messiahs are not ordained to do God’s work, but are out to glorify themselves. instead of glorifying God.

Dear God, help us rest comfortably in your arms while we wait patiently for your Son’s return. Amen.
