What waits for you?

“Since this is what you have to look forward to [Day of God’s Judgment], do your very best to be found living at your best, in purity and peace.”  2 Peter 3:14

geoffreychaucer165940For years after Jesus died, the talk was all about his return. His followers believed he would be coming back soon, and they waited for that day when the sky would collapse and with a thunderous bang everyone would be seen as they are and judged accordingly.

Our world is full of waits: to see a doctor or dentist, for the stoplight to turn green, to checkout at a store. In the end, we get what we want. But there are waits that seem eternal.

Dear Lord, help me to prepare for and wait for the day when I will see you and my loved ones in heaven. Amen.
