“But, we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.” Hebrews 10:39
The saying, “Cut off your nose to spite your face” fits for this type of blaming. God set up Jesus to take the hit for all of us. Jesus could have blamed God for his physical and emotional pain. He questioned God, but gave him the glory until his dying breath.
A friend of mine lost her cat, Milky Way. He disappeared while she was out of town for a week. Milky Way was her animal soul mate–he seemed to understand her and communicate with her through the spirit. My friend wrote that since he disappeared she has not been able to pray. Withholding praise may have held her back from healing.
I don’t think God was angry with my friend when she didn’t pray. He could see into her heart that she was hurting. He understands that sometimes we can only say short prayers, such as “Help me, Lord” or “Thank you, God.” It is good we do not have to worry about our prayer life as well as every other detail of trying to live a good and clean life for Jesus.
Lord, help us seek you especially when we are sad or disappointed. Amen.
