Who is the Idiot? — Daily Meditation Moment

” You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.” James¬†3:18¬†(The Message Bible)

I am amazed at how the most docile, quiet-mannered people can post the most outrageous crazy comments about President Obama and Govern Romney on Facebook. I wonder why politics becomes such a personal issue that one would risk their own integrity. Is it because of fear…fear of the unknown? Fear that their values are being threatened? Is it because they get nervous with change…with getting out of the box and seeing what’s going on on the right or the left side of their box?
In the book of James, we are told that in order to develop a robust community, we must do so by treating each other with dignity and honor–to work on doing so. This does not mean that we can pick and choose who we call an idiot or other four-letter words.

The best way to express how one feels about a candidate is in the privacy of the poling booth.
Dear Lord, help me keep my thoughts and minds on how I can help develop community. Amen.
