Who’s in command?

“The word is right here and now–as near as the tongue in your mouth, as near as the heart in your chest.” Deuteronomy 30: 14

Linda don'tSo, what’s the word? Answer: A commandment given by Moses to the people of Israel: “Love God, your God. Walk in his ways. Keep his commandments, regulations, and rules so that you live…” (vs. 16)

I don’t know about you, but I hate commandments. I’m not referring to God’s top ten, but the ones made by someone who thinks they are in control. Awhile back I got a call from a guy who is involved in a network marketing program with me and many others in the valley. The first thing he said was, “Linda, don’t ask people on our Facebook page why they aren’t responding to your invitation. It puts out a negative vibe.” After I heard, “Linda, don’t,” a roadblock went up, and I hardly heard the rest of what he was saying.

As a communicator, I try to soften the blow before hitting someone over the head with the word: ┬áSuch as, “Stan, it has been my experience when I write positive comments on Facebook, I have more success, such as …”

Lord, help us be kind to one another by using all your commandments as a guide throughout life. Amen.
