“His wounds became your healing.” 1 Peter 2:25
It’s only been a few weeks since Easter, but I’m amazed at how fast the festival celebration of the risen Lord begins to fade.
In the last month, Glen and I have both had our cataracts removed. One day, by crazy scheduling, I had surgery at 7; he at 9:30. I relied on a friend to drive me home, and Glen call a cab! Now, we are amazed at how bright everything seems. Night driving has become easier, and every day I see something I hadn’t noticed before–such as a few chin hairs and the fine-line wrinkles around my eyes aren’t quite so fine.
The wounds on Jesus’ hands, feet, and body became the healing of our internal wounds. In many cases, physical ones, such as my eyes which are now 20/20. As I continue to put healing anti-inflammatory drops into my eyes, I am grateful for God’s healing that makes my world much brighter.
Thank you, Lord, for experience deep wounds to heal our sinful ways. Amen.
